The Bear is more than 500 years old, with a traditional feel. It’s thought some of the oak beams in the main bar were originally part of a ship built at the nearby boatyard.

Even for non-beer drinkers, the Bear Inn is a special spot. Quaint and traditional, it’s a pub packed with character.

Two further bar areas each offer cosy corners in which to relax and unwind over lunch or a pint, and there’s also a lovely patio to the front of the pub overlooking Faversham’s Guildhall and marketplace.

The lunchtime menu is popular with regulars and visitors alike and includes home made pies and fish & chips. Food is also served on Tuesday to Thursday evenings.

Our traditional home-cooked dishes are crafted from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, with meat supplied by Faversham’s award-winning family butchers, Barkaways, and our fruit and vegetables supplied by the renowned Macknade Farm shop.

There is a monthly general knowledge quiz held on the last Monday of every month and a sports quiz held on the second Monday of every month. Real ale is a big feature here with the pub featuring in the Good Beer Guide for the last three years.
